Sophie's Blessing Day

Sophie had her baby blessing in Arizona and a lot of family came to be a part of it.

Grandma & Grandpa Cullimore, Shauna, Dan, Riley & Isaac, and Derek, Melinda & Grace drove over 10 hours from Utah to be at the baby blessing! Sophie had fun meeting so many new cousins!

Sophie slept through most of Christmas morning. Unwrapping presents doesn't excite her...YET!

Sophie's starring role

Sophie played baby Jesus in the Davis Family's rendition of The Nativity Story. She was very convincing in her role, but we got a little nervous when the Wise Men kept trying to make her hold the gold, frankincense, and myrrh!

Sophie's 1-month check-up

Sophie went to visit Dr. Scaff today for her 1-month check-up. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and everything looks great!

Elizabeth went incognito!

Fun Fact: "Incognito" is the word Elizabeth misspelled in her 5th grade spelling bee losing to a guy who ate his own boogers!

Sophie received her social security card today. She is now an official, card-carrying member of society!

As excited as we are that she got her first piece of mail, we are also a little sad because we realize that our little girl is growing up!

Sophie's big trip to Corona

Sophie did really well on her longest car ride yet--to Corona, California, to visit daddy's Uncle Dave and Aunt Ruth. She also met some of her other cousins: Heather is holding Travis Clark (8 weeks), Andy is holding Ryan Clark (8 months), and mommy is holding Sophie (3 1/2 weeks).

Sophie's pediatrician

Elizabeth and Grandma Davis took Sophie to her first appointment with her pediatrician today - Dr. Scaff in Pasadena. He is really great with her and is always willing to spend time answering questions for us. Also, Elizabeth and Grandma like him because he is part Lebanese.

Sophie checked in today at 6 pounds, 11 ounces. She was born at 6 pounds, 7 ounces, then lost 6 ounces in the hospital. Since coming home she has gained 10 ounces!

Welcome to the World!

Sophie Elizabeth Cullimore is finally here and we are loving every minute of it!

Elizabeth developed hypertension during the last couple weeks of her pregnancy so she was under the supervision of Matria services as a compromise to keep her doctor from checking her into the hospital. On the evening of Sunday, November 5, 2006, she had a couple of high blood pressure results so her doctor ordered her to report to the emergency room as soon as possible. Spencer and Debbie Couts, who were visiting us at the time, helped us get my things together (since Elizabeth had already packed her bag) and made the drive to Huntington Memorial Hospital--the drive we had been looking forward to making for several months.

Due to more high blood pressure results in the hospital, Elizabeth was admitted into the hospital later that night and her C-section was scheduled for the next morning at 6:00 a.m. Sweet-talking Elizabeth convinced her doctor to postpone the C-section long enough for her mom and sister to come into town from Arizona. So it was rescheduled to Tuesday, November 7th at 5:30 p.m.

On the afternoon of November 7th, with her mom and sister at her side, Elizabeth began having contractions. She was prepared for her C-section and then delivered little Sophie at 5:51 p.m. Elizabeth's mom and I were in the operating room during the surgery and were able to hear Sophie cry for the first time. After she was cleaned off by a nurse and bundled up like a burrito, I was finally able to hold her.

Over the next couple of days, Elizabeth had to be treated for her high blood pressure while we enjoyed every minute we were able to spend with Sophie in the hospital. We were discharged yesterday, November 11th, and are now home enjoying her even more. Elizabeth's mom will be here for the next couple of weeks to take care of us and spoil us with her culinary cuisines.

We love little Sophie and hope everyone can see her soon. She hardly ever cries and everyone says she looks exactly like her daddy.
